Since 1970.

Generations of Experience.

Matthew Porter, President

Matthew grew up around equipment and paving. As the third-generation owner of Porter Brothers, he made his first appearance on the job site while still in diapers and earned his first wages at the age of seven at $1 an hour. His Gramps, the Founder of Porter Brothers, took Matthew to the bank to open a savings account for his first $108 paycheck. Matthew was hooked. Growing up in a trailer park, he remembers building roads with his Tonka trucks and firing his friends when they wouldn’t help. At the age of seventeen, he became the youngest paver operator paving parking lots and TWP roads.

After high school, Matthew went on to college. He received two Associate degrees and his Bachelor’s degree from SIU. After college, he started a trucking company knowing Gramps was always short on trucks. In 2011, when offered the opportunity to purchase the seal coating equipment in preparation for Gramps’ retiring, he jumped on the opportunity and purchased as much as he could afford. After a few years, he combined Porter Brothers Asphalt with his trucking company creating the company as we know it today.

Matthew lives in Rock Falls, IL, with his wife and three daughters.
